Since 1919, Cold River Camp (CRC) has provided an authentic New England hiking camp experience in the heart of the White Mountains perfect for adventurers of all ages. Nestled in Evans Notch, CRC offers easy access to the Presidential, Mahoosuc, and Carter Ranges, and the Saco and Androscoggin Rivers, making it an ideal base for exploration. Charming rustic cabins offer single, double and family occupancy. Each cabin is unique featuring wood stoves or fireplaces, and lovely views that make every stay feel like a step back into a simpler, more peaceful time.
At the heart of CRC, a historic central Lodge welcomes guests with living and dining rooms, while the Recreation Hall, Library and tea house provide spaces to relax and connect.
Enjoy delicious homestyle meals served family style at breakfast and dinner, with a daily build-your-own trail lunch.
Indoor bathroom facilities with hot showers or baths, and ADA accessible facilities.

Appalachian Mountain Club trained and certified Trip Leaders offer led adventures of various levels each day at CRC. All leaders are trained in Wilderness First Aid, CPR and group leadership. Whether you are a seasoned hiker, or stepping onto the trail for the first time, our leaders are here to guide and support you in your explorations of Evans Notch and beyond. At CRC, group hiking is a cherished tradition. The shared adventure, camaraderie, and the joy of experiencing the outdoors together is at the heart of what makes CRC so special.
One and two mile hikes out of CRC are perfect for young children, and hikers of all ages.
Our beloved Baldface Circle Trail, a 9.8 mile gauntlet, boasts miles of open ledges, ridgelines, and endless views of sweeping wilderness, the surrounding peaks, and rolling valleys.
